Reconstructive breast surgery after oncological procedures

DID YOU KNOW THAT...

Surgical procedures for breast cancer or radiotherapy may adversely affect the shape, size and skin quality of the treated breast.
These defects can be corrected with oncoplastic surgery techniques.

Treatment options:

1. Surgery transposing the patient’s own tissue to the site of the defect, or breast remodelling to fill defects after previous procedures.

2. Filling the defects with the patient’s own fatty tissue transposed from other sites.

Eligibility:

The decision on your surgery is taken during a pre-operative visit when a doctor assesses your eligibility. At the visit the doctor also chooses the treatment and orders necessary tests. The decision is made on the basis of test results and your general condition. Then a convenient date is selected.

FAQ

Is another surgery of the breast which has already undergone oncological treatment possible and safe?

To ensure full safety, before undertaking any reconstructive surgery within the breast which has already undergone oncological procedures, a detailed diagnosis of the patient’s current condition is necessary as well as access to complete oncological treatment records.
