Gastroenterology

Gastroenterology Specialist Clinic

Gastroenterology deals with the prevention, diagnostics and treatment for gastrointestinal tract diseases (esophagus, stomach, small intestine and large intestine, rectum, liver, pancreas). Continuous contact with the surrounding and changing environment (food, medicines, microorganisms) increases the incidence of gastrointestinal diseases, in particular functional diseases (irritable bowel syndrome, gastroesophageal reflux disease), inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis) and cancer-related diseases (in particular colorectal cancer).
Due to numerous and often similar symptoms of digestive system diseases it is necessary to consult with a specialist who will make a proper diagnosis and determine treatment. After thoroughly interviewing the patient, our doctor will do necessary on-site examinations (abdominal ultrasound, rectoscopy) as part of our gastroenterology clinic or in other hospital units. If necessary, we will conduct imaging studies in the Laboratory of Computer Tomography, diagnostic tests in the Analytical Laboratory, or gastrointestinal tract examinations (gastroscopy, colonoscopy) in the Endoscopic Laboratory of St Wojciech’s Hospital in dates agreed upon by the patient. If the medical treatment requires hospitalization, we can offer our patients comfortable conditions during their in our hospital’s General Department.
