Laser therapy

Laser therapy makes the mucosal layer of the vagina and endopelvic fasciae more elastic and tense by remodelling and increasing the production of collage fibres. The aim of laser therapy is to smoothen, bleach and increase the elasticity of the skin. The procedure also makes it possible to reduce the labia minora.

• menstruation,
• pregnancy,
• genital infection,
• neoplastic disease.

Before surgery it is important to discuss the procedure in detail with your gynaecologist and to set out a treatment plan.
Before surgery you should undergo a gynaecological examination including a cervical smear test.
An IUD is not a contraindication to treatment. In case of an abnormal cervical smear result the surgery will be scheduled after the treatment has been completed.
Laser therapy does not require any prior preparation.

The surgery is painless and it is performed without anaesthesia in the gynaecological position (in stirrups) using specially designed vaginal and vulvar probes.
For laser therapy of the vagina and the vulva a course of 3 treatments is recommended. The interval between treatments is 6-8 weeks.

• Patients can return to their daily lives immediately after surgery.
• Sexual abstinence is required for at least 7 days after surgery.
• Avoid the sauna and the swimming pool for at least 7 days after surgery.
• Showers are recommended over baths.
• Your doctor will provide further postoperative care recommendations.
