Laser labiaplasty of the labia minora

Did you know…

Laser labiaplasty performed with SmarXide2 V2LR laser (Mona Lisa Touch) is safer and offers better results than scalpel-based procedures. Laser stimulates tissue coagulation which eliminates bleeding. Laser therapy lowers the risk of postoperative scarring, reduces swelling in the area subjected to the procedure, decreases any feelings of discomfort after the procedure and substantially speeds up the healing process. Laser treatment not only helps to remodel the female external genital areas but it also increases tissue firmness and elasticity by stimulating collagen production.

How to prepare for surgery?

Before surgery discuss the procedure in detail with your OB/GYN, request photo documentation to see the results of treatment and decide on a treatment plan.
Before treatment you should undergo a gynaecological examination to exclude any inflammatory condition of the vulvar and vaginal area.
Remove hair from the genital area 2-4 days before the procedure.

Preoperative tests:

  • blood typing (no test validity period),
  • blood cell count (valid for 2 weeks),
  • coagulation factors (valid for 2 weeks),
  • anti-HIV antibody test (valid for 2 weeks),
  • anti-HCV antibody test (valid for 2 weeks),
  • HBsAg test (valid for 2 weeks).

Fasting is not required prior to labiaplasty.

About the procedure:

The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia in the gynaecological position (in stirrups) using specially designed laser probes.
The procedure concludes by placing a few absorbable sutures.

After surgery:

Immediately after labiaplasty the patient should lead a well-balanced lifestyle. It is also important to maintain sexual abstinence and limit physical activity for 4 weeks. After the procedure the patient rests for about 2 hours.
During the recovery period patients take analgesic medication (3-10 days).
After about 7-10 days the patient should come for a follow-up appointment with the doctor who performed the procedure.
